Members of the iBIO Community,

We are excited to announce that John Conrad will be assuming the position of Interim President and CEO of iBIO and the iBIO Institute. John has been the driving force behind iBIO’s programs and the development of the iBIO Institute since 2003. As the organization has grown, John’s role and responsibilities have continued to increase and evolve. His institutional knowledge of the organization and our community positions us for success.

Most recently John has been leading a national coalition with PhRMA, BIO, The Chicagoland Chamber and Illinois Manufacturers Association to oppose a City of Chicago Ordinance that would require biopharmaceutical manufacturers to disclose certain price information. Last week John provided testimony on behalf of the iBIO membership and innovation based community in Chicago before the City’s Finance Committee. John also represented the iBIO membership at Congressman Randy Hultgren’s Opioid Taskforce Summit. John has been working alongside policy makers in Springfield and DC on issues impacting the food and agricultural community and to build a strong coalition for the life sciences sector.

In addition to building iBIO’s policy arm and reinvigorating our community’s grass roots advocacy, John will be leading an effort working with local stakeholders to strengthen the services and programs offered by iBIO and the iBIO Institute. The strategic plan and stakeholder mapping exercise is meant to identify best practices and gaps in services that can strengthen the entire life sciences sector and determine iBIO’s role in a stronger future.

There is still much to accomplish to make Illinois and the surrounding Midwest a world-leading life sciences center and every effort at iBIO and the iBIO Institute is solidly connected to that mission. We hope you’re as excited as we are to build our community into something truly extraordinary.

Best wishes,

Timothy P. Walbert
Chairman of the iBIO Board of Directors

Walt Johnston
